It’s March already and that means it is time for the Scottish Country Dance Festival. As you may or may not know, this festival takes place on Friday 16th March at the fabulous Beach Ballroom and on Saturday the 17th of March at Mannofield church in the west of the city. There will be some fantastic country dancing talent on display with competitors travelling from all across the country to compete. Entrants range from primary aged children; new to country dancing, to highly experienced dancers in pursuit of the development their skills.
Helping them to do this are our two highly regarded adjudicators Mr Alasdair Brown and Mr Jimmie Hill. Alasdair is a very experienced dancer, teacher and adjudicator who has taught widely across the UK and Europe. For the past ten years he has regularly taught classes at the Glasgow branch of the RSCDS as well as at their summer and winter schools. Our other adjudicator, Jimmie Hill, has taught in the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA. He is also RSCDS teacher and adjudicator; teaching the very advanced class at the Edinburgh Branch. With all this experience, I’m sure you will agree that our entrants are in very safe hands.
The festival kicks off at 9.30am on Friday morning and tickets are available on the door for just £3 adult/ £1 concession, for a three house session (either morning, afternoon or evening). We hope to see you there enjoying some of the fabulous Scottish country dancing we have on display here in Aberdeen.
